Cavedale via Sonoma Mountain
Enjoy the views!
Cavedale is one of the rewarding climbs in our area. It is recommended that you tackle this route fro the south as the road surface is pretty poor. This is something that you wont notice nearly as much when climbing as when descending. The preferred descent is Trinity Road which you will come to shortly after the summit of Cavedale. At the intersection of these two roads is a Volunteer Fire Station and on the left front side of the building is a water spigot. It’s a welcome place to top off water bottles if needed.
Once you descend back into Glen Ellen you can find a great assortment of refreshments at the Glen Ellen Market and there is a nice shaded outdoor seating area. It’s so nice that you may have to force yourself to get back on your bike!
This ride is shown staring at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa which is a popular starting point for many club/individual rides. One could easily connect to the route from Glen Ellen, Kenwood or Sonoma.
